01Can all environmental claims be assessed?

Not every claim is suitable for verification. Claims must be specific, measurable and supported by suitable methods and evidence. The final scope will be determined during the initial review.

02Who can apply?

Manufacturers, brand owners, suppliers or organisations responsible for the product and the claims used on labels or marketing materials may apply.

03How long does the assessment take?

The timeline depends on the complexity of the claim, the availability of evidence and any audit or testing requirements. A schedule will be agreed after the application review.

04Can a verification mark or statement be used immediately?

No. A verification mark or statement may only be used after the applicable positive decision has been issued and remains subject to the approved wording, validity period and mark-use rules.

05Can Trans verify a product carbon footprint declaration?

Yes, subject to scope review. The client must provide a product or partial product carbon footprint study and supporting data that meet the agreed criteria. Product quantification normally follows ISO 14067, while verification is performed against the applicable programme requirements and ISO 14064-3. Organisational GHG inventories are handled under a separate ISO 14064-1 scope.

06Does verification mean that the entire product is environmentally friendly?

No. Trans verifies only the exact claim, product or product range, boundary, period and criteria stated in the verification record. It is not a blanket endorsement of every environmental aspect of the product.

07What evidence is required for renewable energy, waste or water claims?

Evidence may include metering data, energy attribute records, waste transfer and treatment documents, water inventories, calculation models and traceable operational records. The exact requirements are confirmed during the initial scope review.

08Does Trans issue and register an EPD directly?

Trans provides EPD readiness, LCA data review and verification coordination. EPD publication, registration and third-party verification follow the requirements of the selected EPD programme and its approved verifier or certification body. The applicable delivery model is confirmed before engagement.
